What is Angel Food America?

Angel Food America is the next chapter in the Angel Food story! After beginning with 34 boxes of food on the back porch of a Georgia farmhouse, Angel Food Ministries has grown to a national effort that is changing the way that American's deal with hunger, and with its current services to more than a million people across three-quarters of the nation, Angel Food wanted to find ways to do more to help local communities. Its founders, the Wingo family, believed that even more could happen by building from access to good nutrition, and that much more needed to be done to address the broader issues that contribute to hunger.  Angel Food America brings the entire network and substantial capacity of Angel Food to bear on the web of problems that contribute to and result from hunger and food insecurity. Angel Food America was chartered with the mission of helping communities build greater collaboration and success in nutrition, financial literacy, health prevention, disaster relief, and to provide special support for the most fragile Americans.

What are Community Access Sites?

A Community Access Site (CAS) is the special designation for AFM host sites that make the commitment to help community members find resources beyond food. People who are in need of food often have other needs that cause things like food to be a regular challenge. By helping these folks connect with community resources and making information about other assistance available, your host site will not only get to help reduce hunger and improve nutrition, but also help reduce the causes of hunger and poverty.

Community Access Sites in our region:

Binghamton - Crossroads of Life Church
Owego - Abide in the Vine Fellowship
